‍This presentation will use Catherine Malabu’s notion of plasticity to illustrate the impact of film in forming an understanding and memory of space as viewers, whilst citing Martin Heidegger and Hannah Arendt’s notions of causality to understand our roles as filmmakers. The above points will be expanded using references from my practice, narrative film and music videos, for an audio visual exploration of the medium. The objective is to inspire the students to pick up a camera with an awareness of the possibilities, dimensions and responsibilities this tool carries.
