We are always called upon to make choices and stick to them, but in the midst of complex change, how can we remain calm and confine our "identity" to a fixed time and space? Everyday statements and familiar experiences sometimes become unfamiliar, prompting us to rethink the present moment; transgression, risk-taking and conflict are also valuable qualities of human behaviour as opposed to regularity, order and obedience. These qualities are suppressed by universal norms, as Foucault puts the difference between heterotopia and the real world: in civilised societies without ships, dreams dry up, reconnaissance replaces adventure, and police replace pirates. The contradiction between personal identity construction and social identity has always existed, but we don't have to be in a hurry to make a choice; rather, we have to accept this contradiction, maintain a state of questioning and exploring the self, and re-engage in a process of reflection. In order to encourage "avoiding fixed identities and keeping options open", I want to provide a space for reflection for myself and those who resonate with me, where identities are no longer "pilgrims" but"wanderers", "tourists" or "players" and where we are always in the process.
